Foundation in Human Factors
Our introductory course in human factors is tailored to your clinical setting. Using a combination of tutorials, small group sessions and simulations, participants develop a solid foundation in understanding human factors and the impact it has in their work place. Usually a two day course but can be adapted to a single day – delivered in your workplace or externally.
Midwife Leaders Course (recently updated in response to the Ockenden Report)
In response to the recent Ockenden Report, these midwife specific courses have beed redeveloped to enhance the non-technical skills required for midwives responsible for running a labour ward. This course is most suitable for all current leaders in midwifery and valuable for any clinical staff working in a maternity setting. The course focuses on the importance of team working, situational awareness, safe decision making and creating a culture of civility and psychological safety
Midwife Leaders Train the Trainers Course (recently updated in response to the Ockenden Report)
This course covers the content of the Midwife Leaders course and incorporates training to equip participants to deliver an introductory human factors and non-technical skills course at there own trusts. It is ideally suited to senior and practice development midwives.
Team Training
Our multidisciplinary course aimed at improving the functioning of your team. Clinical or non-clinical teams welcome. In depth course looking at how teams function and how to get the best out of all members of the team. Includes sessions on speaking up and ensuring empowerment throughout teams.
Simulation in Practice
This multimodal course teaches the basics of simulation as a methodology for improvement within your organisation. Simulation skills, debriefing and identification of latent errors are covered in this course. High and low fidelity simulation are covered and more importantly the principles behind using these techniques effectively to improve safety, teamwork and performance.
